Scene 2 of this play script for elementary school \u2013 The Trick<\/strong><\/h3>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Determined to fight off sleep, Aurora tosses her book aside the moment her parents\u2019 footsteps fade away. She picks up two toy characters \u2014 a bear and an owl \u2014 and brings them to life just for fun.<\/p>\nThe Narrator may imitate the bear and owl voices, or Aurora can do them herself.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora, as the owl:<\/strong> Aren\u2019t you going to bed?<\/p>\nAurora, shaking the bear:<\/strong> Nope! I hibernated all winter. I won\u2019t need to sleep for months. And you?<\/p>\nAurora as the owl:<\/strong> I sleep during the day and hunt at night. I\u2019m a nocturnal bird.<\/p>\nAurora as the bear:<\/strong> Night is kind of boring. Everyone\u2019s asleep.<\/p>\nAurora as the owl:<\/strong> If you can\u2019t fall asleep\u2026 pretend.<\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> And suddenly, Aurora has a brilliant idea.<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> Yes! Pretending! That\u2019s the perfect plan!<\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Quickly, she puts her toys away, grabs her book again, and slips under the covers. Propped up on her elbows, she waits for her parents to return \u2014 which doesn\u2019t take long.<\/p>\nAurora lies down as if she drifted off, her head resting on her book.<\/em><\/p>\nSterling, <\/strong>entering<\/em>:<\/strong> Told you.<\/p>\nStella:<\/strong> Good. Ever since she was little, bedtime has always been the toughest moment of the day.<\/p>\nSterling, <\/strong>leaning over his daughter<\/em>:<\/strong> She takes after you.<\/p>\nStella:<\/strong> I didn\u2019t like going to bed either.<\/p>\nSterling:<\/strong> Just like you, she\u2019ll grow into a determined young woman.<\/p>\nHe carefully slides the book out from under Aurora\u2019s head. She doesn\u2019t move a muscle.<\/em><\/p>\nStella:<\/strong> I wonder what she\u2019s dreaming about.<\/p>\nSterling:<\/strong> Probably piano competitions. Come on.<\/p>\nThe parents exit. Aurora remains perfectly still.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Scene 3 \u2014 The Intruder<\/strong><\/h3>\nNarrator:<\/strong> You might think that by pretending to be asleep, Aurora finally drifted off for real.<\/p>\nAurora, <\/strong>suddenly sitting up<\/em>:<\/strong> Ha! Ha! I did it!<\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> But no! The whole situation has actually energized her.<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> The night belongs to me now! I\u2019m like an owl heading out to hunt for excitement.<\/p>\nShe gets out of bed.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> Hmm! How should I use all this free time?<\/p>\nShe walks around the room.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> I could make myself some bracelets.<\/p>\nShe heads toward a stack of boxes and pulls on one of them. In her excitement, she knocks several to the floor, making a huge racket.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora, <\/strong>frozen<\/em>:<\/strong> What a mistake!<\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Hard to believe her parents didn\u2019t hear that\u2026<\/p>\nAurora stays tense and motionless.<\/em><\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> And yet\u2014nothing. No reaction at all.<\/p>\nAurora, <\/strong>relaxing<\/em>:<\/strong> I\u2019ll have to be more careful from now on.<\/p>\nShe goes back to sit on her bed, opens a box, and takes out pieces to make bracelets.<\/em><\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Completely absorbed in her activity, Aurora doesn\u2019t notice that an intruder has slipped into the room.<\/p>\nA strange figure enters quietly behind her\u2014wearing a long cloak and a hood that hides their face. They carry a bag obviously filled with sand.<\/em><\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> But who is this intruder, and what do they want?<\/p>\nAurora suddenly stops. She senses something. She turns her head slightly to the left, but the figure quickly moves to the right to stay out of sight.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora, <\/strong>shrugging<\/em>:<\/strong> I\u2019ve got too much imagination.<\/p>\nThe figure creeps closer and closer to the girl. They slide their hand into the bag they\u2019re carrying. Once again, Aurora pauses\u2014the movement caught her attention. She turns her head to the right, but the intruder slips to the opposite side. Aurora frowns, puzzled, then goes back to her craft.<\/em><\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Slowly, the intruder takes their hand out of the bag and sprinkles a kind of magical powder above Aurora\u2019s head. She doesn\u2019t notice a thing.<\/p>\nThe intruder quietly steps back and disappears.<\/em><\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> But suddenly, her nose begins to tickle\u2026<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> Ahhh\u2026 ahhh\u2026 ACHOOOO!<\/p>\nSurprised, she looks around.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> Weird! It feels like I\u2019ve got sand up my nose.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Scene 4 of this play script for elementary school \u2013 The Ghosts<\/strong><\/h3>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Aurora is really bothered by the sand clogging her nose and making her eyes itch. She reaches for a tissue and blows her nose loudly.<\/p>\nThree ghosts slip quietly into the room. Aurora tosses her tissue aside and finally notices them.<\/em><\/p>\nAurora<\/strong> jumping<\/em>: Aaaah! Who are you? What are you doing in my room?<\/p>\nThe Three Ghosts:<\/strong> Ooooooooh! We are ghoooosts\u2026<\/p>\nAurora<\/strong> shouting<\/em>: Mom! Dad! There are ghosts in my room!<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> Don\u2019t shout so loud. It won\u2019t help.<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> They can\u2019t hear you.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> And you\u2019re hurting our ears.<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> What? They can\u2019t hear me?<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> You have left the world of the living\u2026 and crossed into the world of spirits.<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> Does that mean\u2026 I\u2019m dead?<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> Not exactly. You\u2019re between worlds\u2026 in transition.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> But soon enough, you could end up in sheets<\/em> just like us!<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> I don\u2019t want that! I\u2019m just a kid. Please\u2026 let me go back to the living.<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> We don\u2019t know the way back.<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> If we did, we\u2019d already be gone.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> We\u2019re the ghosts of people who were dead tired<\/em>\u2026 literally.<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> But I\u2019m not dead tired! It\u2019s only the beginning of the night!<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> You have until sunrise to find your way home. Otherwise\u2026<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> Otherwise\u2026 what?<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> You\u2019ll turn into a ghost.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> Forever. Mwahahaha!<\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Jaw dropped, Aurora finally realizes how serious things are.<\/p>\nAurora:<\/strong> No way! I need to get back home. I have school\u2026 and piano competitions!<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> To be honest, the ghost life isn\u2019t that scary.<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> No chores, no homework, no jobs. You can go to the movies every day\u2026 for free. You can walk through walls.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> You can prank people and scare them for fun! It\u2019s hilarious!<\/p>\nAurora<\/strong> unconvinced<\/em>: Yeah\u2026 right.<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> We\u2019d be happy to welcome you to our ghost family.<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> We could even be your friends.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> But I\u2019m the leader.<\/p>\nGhost 1:<\/strong> Excuse me? I\u2019m the leader. I\u2019m the smartest.<\/p>\nGhost 2:<\/strong> No way \u2014 I\u2019m the tallest.<\/p>\nGhost 3:<\/strong> And I\u2019m the scariest!<\/p>\nThe Three Ghosts:<\/strong> No, I\u2019m<\/em> the leader! \u2014 No, I am! \u2014 No, me! It\u2019s me, I said!<\/p>\nNarrator:<\/strong> Aurora stands in the middle of complete chaos. Confused, she watches the three oddballs argue, not knowing what to say. But after a moment, she\u2019s had enough.<\/p>\n
