Reprography Rights
Reprography rights refer to the photocopies you make for the actors. It is as if you were purchasing a copy of the text for each participant.
Public Performance
A public performance is a performance open to friends, parents, and the general public. Most performances are public, with few exceptions. In the school setting, performances conducted within an educational framework in front of students without parental presence are considered internal performances.
For Quebec Schools
Schools in Québec benefit from a system that is unique in Canada — and even in the world.
Reproduction rights — that is, photocopying and/or digital classroom use — are covered by Copibec. Simply fill out the form “I work for a school in Québec.” You will then receive the play text(s) free of charge, and Animagination will take care of submitting the declaration to Copibec on your behalf.
Performance rights are managed by AQAD (Association québécoise des auteurs et autrices dramatiques). Thanks to an agreement with the Ministry of Education (MEQ), these fees are paid directly, at no cost to your school. However, to ensure that the author receives proper compensation, teachers must, after the public performances, complete the online form available on the AQAD website : https://form.jotform.com/92614421300241
